try taking a bus or some kind of public transportation. Yeah, there is no problem with your choice because many people have jobs and no cars. How can you get a car with no job? However, you shouldn't feel like you have the right to be taken to work in a car. Public transportation is not below you. |

Seriously, get a bike. You can pick one up second hand pretty cheap. That will get you to work if you can't get someone to drive you, and ten miles isn't too far by bike. Also, since you'll be working, you'll have money available for driving lessons, so you can live pretty frugally by bike riding, until you get your full licence and can pay for a car.
If I didn't have a car, I'd ride a bike. Having a job is worth the temporary inconvenience.

Good choice. However you should get your Driver's license. When asking if someone can take you to and from work, offer to pay them something for the fuel. With gas prices the way they are I can see where people are reluctant. Save for a car if you don't have one already to use. |

Where there is a will there's a way. Keep persisting with people. Offer to pay some fuel etc.
Go for it. Its a chance to get ahead |

Rookie, the fact that you are 19 and seemingly determined to work is so f'ing great...don't lose the momentum. Go get that job.
If something better comes along in the future (closer job, better transportation situation) you can always look for a different job or stop paying for lifts.
If my niece's told me they wanted a ride to work I would (after I got up from fainting) carry them to work on my back! if I had to!!!
A responsible teen...how refreshing.
I wish I could vote you best question. |

It's good that you are getting the job regardless of your transportation situation. You can always find a family member or friend who will take you if it isn't far away. Why not go ahead and get your license though? I'd be sure that you have an agreement with someone before accepting the position. With the way gas prices are going, if it get's any worse, you'll need your entire paycheck just to pay for the gas to get to work! |

Without a dependable source of transportation to and from work you will lose your job, so I would say wrong choice. |

your intention were good....upholding responsibility is a sign of maturation and the extra cash wouldn't hurt.
but why get a job so far away? Unless you have a live-in bf, is it worth the hassel of trying to leach rides? yeah...i used the word "leach"...here's how i figured it out...simple formula:
gas price 3.55/gallon + hassal of driving others around = pain in the ***
pain in the *** + being oblivious that you are being a pain in the *** = leach |

Maybe u should consider getting your licence and borrowing a car till u can get your own? or if their is public transport u could catch? |

Well it was probably a good decision because you actually did go out and get a job. I have to say congrats to that, some people cant even handle that task.
Have you considered taking the bus to work? i know that may not be the most convenient option but its much cheaper than paying someone. |
