No-one - if police want to look into they have to have a court order. Other banks, insurance companies or credit reference agencies DO NOT have the power or the rights to look at what is in your bank account. All they can do is look at your credit record! Even the government do not have that right! Neither do Dept of works and pensions- they can ask you for a bank statement detailing what is in your account- but they cannot look into your account. |

The court can request bank information be presented to them.
The FBI, Secret Service, or IRS if you are being investigated for something.
Anyone who is a signer on the account.
The bank can look at your account as they hold the data.
Banks cannot sell you financial data to anyone (insurance companys or credit companies) as this is against privacy laws. Even employees within the bank MUST have a business reason (you asked them to look at something, or they are looking for ways to improve your bank relationship, etc) before they can look at your account. The only information your bank will give out is whether or not an account is open.
They should not release/sell (except to signers of the account or when ordered to legally):
1 - who is on the account
2 - How much is in the account
3 - Average balances
4 - Length of time account was open
5 - much much more
Basically, the average person or any business can only find out if your account is open and nothing else. |

you and your bank, or if they have reasonable suspicion and you have been naughty:
Customs and excise
Police
Interpol etc.
MI5, MI6 <- If suspected of funding terrorism.
But noone else. |

Each signer on the account's signature card (held at the bank) has this right, as well as any bank employee that the bank has authorized to do so. If someone to whom you have written a check calls the bank to see if the funds are available to cover the check, the bank employees may only tell the caller "yes" or No, the funds are not available at this time". They cannot tell the caller what your balance is. |

Police under special circumstances - like they suspect you accept bribes or have robbed a bank. Executors after your death. |

Well the question should be - should the governments accounts be checked and they also locked up for terrorism funding ?
I mean whats this saudi Arms deal to me thats funding terrorism - you have been paying an Arab man lots of billions of money for something u dont know what he is actually investing the money in (possibly bin laden and his crew)
So should we civilians who get probed to hell be treated the same as the politiricians ?
Obviously not since when the government gets questioned they threaten us we will get blown up unless we give them this money
That is absolutly wrong and some ppl need to be behind bars !
PS above says Mi5 - Mi6 - well their the ones funding saudis so they also should be locked up lol |

gotcha212 has got all of them that I know of.
Correcting someone else: From what I was told, the bank can NOT tell anyone if the funds are available. Not even another bank unless they are explicitly authorized to do so by the account holder(s). Laws in the last few years closed that old loophole.
I asked why, in this great day and age of technology, it takes so long for the paycheck I deposit for the funds be available to my account. I was told: the money is not available until it clears the other account (ie the check is good). They can't just make a phone call to find out if it's good. The electronic checks speed things up, but not all banks do them. I would love to have direct deposit, but it's not an option :( |

You.
The bank representative with your permission.
Those whose work requires them to have access (clerks to update records)
The police can get a warrant if they have 'evidence' to show they need access for an investigation. |

The actual person obviously but also the police if the person is under investigation but also, depending on age of course, the persons parents. |

No body has right to do that ,only the person that deposit protection scheme administered by the Corporation compensates eligible depositors in the event of a failure of a licensed financial institution. At the commencement of the scheme, the guaranteed payment to depositors.
As a merchant you want, one of your many goals is to provide your customers with as many opportunities to pay you as possible. One of the most convenient ways for many customers to pay you is with their credit cards. For the customer it means added security because if there is a problem, they have the credit card company behind them. For you, the merchant, it means the funds are in your bank in 24 hours and there is no handling of cash. But who should you go to in order to set up your merchant account and what questions should you ask? There are some very important questions you should ask yourself and your prospective merchant processor before committing to one.
A merchant account allows a business to accept credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and other forms of electronic payment. This is also widely known as payment processing or credit card processing.
Merchants, or business owners who receive payment for their goods or services, must apply for a merchant account. The merchant account may or may not be established based on several factors of which risk is the most important. Merchants who own businesses with poor or no credit may find it difficult to establish a merchant account. |

if you get help from social services, or if get social sercuity check, things like that they'll need that info to make sure you'll get the benefits that is greater than your resources.also i think sometimes if you get a new car the bank has to go in and make sure you can afford the monthly payments |

well any government dept for a kick off because they gave themselves that right under "terrorism laws"
in addition a court can give powers to anyone the court deems fit.
banks and insurance companies and credit agencies share information
