You have to have a credit history established. I got a credit card at sixteen, but my dad had to sign the application and a contract that said that he would pay the bill if I didn't make timely payments on it. You should get somebody with a good credit score to help you get your first credit card.

usually 18 years old - ya should have a job, or income to make the payments.
note: use care with credit cards - they can ruin the rest of your life

babe, i dont mean to be a smarty pants, but you have to be old enough to write a question that makes sense, ok. but if you mean "how old" i will advise you to NEVER get one, but if you must, some people will say it's ok to have one for emergencies, and I cant really argue with that. I have one, and only one and I pay it off every month. accumulating debt you cant pay off not only hurts yourself, but contributes to the weakening economy.

18 in the us but i knew of someone who put down on the credit application a year of birth that made her 18 and she got the card with no problem... But it later made her older by her ssn so if you dont want to mess up your age on your credit i would just wait it out... From experience i think it would be better to wait it out... Dont want to have messed up credit when your on your own... You need credit for everything now days... Good luck to you.
