My paycheck every two weeks is from $1100-$1300.
My bills
car 253, house 882, electric 80, gas 80, cellphone 2phones 150, cable 70, internet 36, credit cards 3 that i'm paying on. $70, 25-50, 25-50. school 220, water 20, car insurance 70. Gas 40 a week. Fitness gym 25,adt 40, Groceries maybe 150 a month. I honestly have not been shopping since august. I don't eat out maybe once a week less than 10$ meal.
Where is my money going. I put all of this out there because i need help. I'm tired of overdrafting in the bank, i'm tired of not having any money saved, i'm tired of being this way. Any advice accepted. |

ok. If you have 2 seperate cell phone plans, and you Must have 2 phones, then figure out which one will give you the best deal for having 2 phones on 1 plan (im assuming the other phone is your girlfriends/ wifes/ kids/) .. you'll probably get more minutes.
If your credit union or bank will give you a loan at a lower interest than your credit cards, the take the loan to pay off the credit cards. Don't close them (it would lower your credit score) but just don't use them. Get rid of the fitness gym and learn exercises you can do at home off the internet for free. Turn off the cable. Instead, for $13 a month you can have a netflix plan that allows you to watch nearly a movie a day. No late fees. Get a bank account that pays you interest, has free checking, no minimum balance and free atm use. (check the discount brokerages (td ameritrade/ charles schwab).. they have all that on their banking sides). As soon as you're paid, send at least $50 into a savings account.
Keep a notepad with you at all times and write down every penny you spend. You'll find where the money's sneaking away from you.
If you have an electric water heater and it has a seperate breaker, flip it off when you leave the house in the morning. The water will remain hot for over 12 hours. Turn it back on when you get home if you need it later.. or just before bed if not.
If you don't get a loan to pay off the cards, then pay off the smallest one first so you'll be making progress. Also, you can look for a card that will transfer balances and give you 0% on the amount. Also.. round up items you no longer need or use and put them for sale on a free ad website such as craigslist.org...use the cash to pay down debt. You'd be amazed what will sell.. even if you only raise a $30 a month you'll be gaining on the debt.
If you've been on time with your credit card payments, call and try to get them to lower the interest. When they tell you they can't, ask for their supervisor. They will .. they can do it every few months.
Td ameritrade has promotion going.. the suzi orman save yourself plan. If you save $50 a month by automatic deposit, you'll get a 2.78 %APY interest rate and at the end of 12 months, you will get a $100 bonus. To sign up you need the code from her book, which is 710. (she gave it away on her book tour.)
Good luck. |

People work up their nest egg by investing in retirement plans, setting aside as much as possible every week. I set aside almost $50k over 2 years, and made some strategic investments, but I was able to cut out virtually all living expenses while saving that, and actually feel really comfortable and secure as a result.
Because of your rather extravagant spending habits and cost of living, you aren't able to save anything. I would start by cutting the cable. That $70 could be spent so much better, honestly how much of that crap are you actually wasting your time watching?
A good solid budget would spend a maximum of 33% of your monthly pay on your dwelling. You are at about 45%. That's too high a ratio, you definetly miscalculated when you accepted that payment. |

Well, there are a couple of things...first, your housing is expensive. Between the mortgage and utilites you spend 1062. Thats not even including your phones or the entertanment (cable), or the car stuff. Thats half of your income just going to pay for a place to live. If you have any way to cut down on this by getting a roommate, or conserving more energy in your home, whatever it would be a good idea. You can't change the mortgage payments easily, but you can unplug appliances, and turn off lights, turn the thermostat down, etc.
Second, you have a lot of money going to debt (30% of a check) try calling the credit card companies, if you have been paying on time, they will sometimes lower the interest rate. Or consider getting those 6mo no interest things and rolling an account or two into it. As long as you continue to pay the $50 you will be paying it all on principle instead of paying half to interest.
And the somewhat frivilious things...do you really need that expensive of a phone plan? How much do you use cable? Can you get a cheaper internet plan? Do you go to the gym? What is adt? Go through and decide, if I had to go without something what would it be? |

That's a good question. You may want to get another job for a little while. Just pay extra on stuff like your credit cards. Then when you eliminate those you can quit. |

That's what you were taught to do at school, get educated and go out and get a job, unfortunately they conveniently forget to teach you that by doing that you will live paycheck to paycheck.
I have friend in the US who was probably in an even worse state than you are, he was 30 years old when he decided to change something in his life, so he started up his own business, now in his early 40's he is a multi-millionaire.
What he did is simple but requires work, what he did you could do, working from home part time, so if you would like to know more get back to me by email and I will send on some web site addresses. |

i gone thr' the expenditures.. you mean it is monthly expenditure..ok..want to save money.. ok.. why 2 mobiles? why 3 credit cards? Car insurance per month? Addtional gas 40?
Try to reduce some expenditures which is not needed. one more thing.. This is the position of all..not only you.. Anyhow all are managing from the savings done from the office ..say provodent fund loan, personal loan, festival adavce etc., some expenditures can't cut. But, try to manage with one mobile, one credit card.. i think you can do and thus your savings can be raised. just all can advice, suggest but there is a pracitical difficulties which i know. The savings is nothing but winning the unnecessary expenditures. Try..best of luck. |

Try moving back in with your parents until your more stable, get rid of one of the phones, theres no need for two, unless one is work, then charge them for the calls. That should save you ALOT. then maybe stop using so much gas. Get a smaller car that'll lower your insurance a little. Work out at home rather than the gym. I dont know just some ideas. |

First you need to get ride of the car payment. sell it, pay it off, get one with no car payment. get rid of you credit cards, If you need one only have ONE. NOT three..
I am not sure I would say to move but that might be an option depending on where you live and where you can move to.
Do you have you car insurance and house insurance together.? you can get a deal if you do. ADT? Home security.? Maybe you need to cut that for awhile also.
You also need to get rid of the gym,. you have 2 phones. ?? Get rid of one of them. Find a way to cut down you groceries bill. Cut coupons what ever you can. |

My friend I know how it is believe me. We've all been deceived to believe; go to school, get the good grades, to get the good job. However that is just folklore for the majority of people.
It's because you, including myself and most people have a few nasty habits, which are food, clothing, shelter. The reason why you're living pay check to pay check is because you my friend are an employee with a salary cap over your head with more debts than you do have assets. You have ONE STREAM of income coming in, which is coming from your only job. Now what if you something were to happen to you? Where will the rest of that money come from? Not the trees, that's for sure because it don't grow there.
What you have to do is learn how to create "Multiple Streams" of income so you're not solely relying on one source. So you constantly have cash flow being spat out at you. Learn how to leverage your cash flow, and have your money working for you as oppose to you working for that money.
All you need to do is do a little research on the internet on how this can been done and achieved and through which vehicle. Whether it be a home based business or internet marketing, or affiliate marketing. And eventually onto investing.
The wealthy didn't become wealthy by working for people, they became wealthy by leveraging their assets. |
