When you spend more money than you earn you'll be broke. Live within your means.
Keep track of EVERY purchase you make for one month. You'll probably find that you're spending much of your income on non-essentials and unnecessary misc. purchases. It's not the mortgage or car payment that gets most people in trouble. It's the everyday, small purchases that really add up in a hurry.
Read, "The Millionaire Mind" and "The Millionaire Next Door". Most of America's first-generation millionaires do not have big incomes. They simply make better choices in how they spend compared to the eternally poor. |

My guess is that you are leaking money and you don't even realize it. Get a small notepad and write down every penny you spend for the next 30 days. Enter the info into excel, categorize it and add it up. I bet you'll be shocked at where your money is going. Figure out where you can cut back and use those numbers to build a budget for yourself. Set up everything in your budget so that it's done automatically. Pay your bills/savings/retirement accounts the day you get paid through auto bank transfers and then what's left is how much you have to spend, no more.
Figure out how to live frugally, eat in, find cheap/free entertainment and hobbies, stop smoking, cut down on drinking or any other expensive vices (coffee!!).
It takes effort, but it can be done. |

You are not alone. There are basically only two options for you... increase income or reduce expenses. If a raise or part time business or roommate is out of the question, then you need to review your expenses. We all have fixed and flexible expense categories that include housing, transportation, food, entertainment, clothing, etc. Make a list of your expenses every month and you should be able to see things that you could cut back on. We want it all but we cannot have it all at any income level so we have to prioritize. In addition to listing to expenses, list your goals. Why do you want more money??? Once you psych yourself up a destination of what you really want and need, you will be able to get there. There are a number of really good books out there... check out Suze Orman and David Bach's books. The time you spend reading and learning will take away from the time you have to shop and spend. Knowledge is power!!! |

It's called fighting back!
Fight with all your might against the powers that be who made you like that.
Accepting failure should never be anybody's goal in life.
Map out a plan to get your finances in order, and stick to it.
It's too bad nobody is united for a cause anymore.
What better cause is there than becoming financially healthy! |

You need to live within your means. Track your spending for a month and see what the major culprits are. The point is to decide what expenses are worth keeping, which are worth cutting and there are probably a few things that you had no idea you were spending that much on in the first place. Then you can use this pattern of spending as basis for establishing a working budget that includes SAVING and INVESTING and STICK TO IT. It really sucks at first regulating your spending but when you stick to it you get used to it to the point that it becomes effortless. And always look for ways to cut expenses and costs. Seriously, do you like going to work to hand over your money to other people and have none left for yourself at the end of the day. Of course not! Nobody does. |

That's a question only you can answer, and the place to start is by tracking your spending. Many of get very excited by a raise in our paychecks, but we remain oblivious as our spending creeps up to match our new income. If you feel that you make a decent amount of money, then the next logical place is do you spend a decent amount of money, or are you trying to have things before you truly have the money for them? Try tracking your spending for about 2 to 4 weeks to determine where your expenses are. Then use these figures to set a spending plan for yourself that is realistic. For example, I could write a budget where I say that I will spend very little on clothing, but I know that this is not a realistic goal for me, and so in my personal budget, I have a generous allowance for clothing expenditures. You can examine your spending for expenditures that you can cut or conserve on. Don't expect that you will change your spending habits instantly, but as you commit to change in manageable pieces, you will pleasantly surprised how quickly the cash adds up and debt goes away. |

Put money into savings before you see it. If your employer has a savings plan, have them take it out of your check before it gets to you. You wont spend it if its not readily available.
Everyone spends as much as they make unless of course they are a millionaire and then sometimes they go into bankruptcy. |
