The Tellers are entry level positions - and the lowest paid employee in the bank. I should know - I have been in banking for almost 30 years. Also, if a teller is out of balance, either over or short, they can be terminated. That's why they go at a slower pace, the make sure the transaction balances and that you are receiving the correct amount of money. |

Because they get paid by the hour and they don't make enough to rush and take care of the people in the bank lol.
The real reason is that their drawers have to be exactly right so they take their time doing their jobs. |

Because every bank transaction deals with somebody's money. It is expensive and embarassing to make a mistake with someone else's money. So they are slow. |

They are slow because the think for the short term. They have to account to the stockholders for profits. If they would increase payroll for customer service long term the profits would be higher. |

Because banks are actually large corporations. If you want real service switch to a credit union. They are fast and willing to work with most individuals all you have to do is meet their criteria for membership. Usually there is a credit union for everyone. |
