Thats all well and good but what you don't say is what country you are from?
Could this have anything to do with it? ( I know it shouldn't but everything else seems ok) |

It's probably because you don't have a credit history that there's a problem.
You can probably get a credit card via the HSBC - or even get a small loan from your bank; short 'n' small but enough to give you a credit history. Pay it off properly and all might well be good.
But also; check out your credit score and history - see if you and/or your house has been black listed. |

Because you have no credit history. To get a credit card you need a credit history eg something on finance etc. This shows the credit card company that you have been making regular payments. Trust me leave the credit card alone, its a rip off. |

It could be that the area where u reside, or the industry ur emplyed in may be in the ngative list of the bank and they dont source fresh loans there..check with the bank. |

You should try Capital One, they give credit to people in your situation. |

I have only been living in the UK for 14 months - AND I am a working holiday maker on a Visa which means I legally can't stay here for more than two years. I got a credit card from HSBC after having a bank account with them for only 8 months!!
It sounds like they are just being difficult - maybe you don't earn enough money, but I only earned £18,000 salary when I applied for mine. With HSBC you don't apply online anyway, you need to set up an appointment with a banking consultant and go into the branch and meet with them to discuss it. Then they'll give you one for sure, or at least tell you why you can't get one... |

You have a right to ask them apply and when you get a rejection notice it will tell you who to contact. |

best way, do not get a credit card it leads to a life of misery and debt - just spend what you got and u'll be far happier.... |

Every time you get a decline you'll get a black mark on your credit history. Lack of credit history won't help either! |

try getting one through your bank instead of online. they also have secured credit cards for people who have no credit. this will help you establish good credit. |

the only true reason that i can think of is that you have a bad credit rating other than this i cannot think of any other reason |

HSBC is the 2nd largest bank in the world and they can't divulge credit information on their clients cause it breaks the data protection act in this country also the fact u aint lived anywhere for more than 3 yrs wil affect it too try going into the bank instead of doing it online good luck |

you shouldnt keep applying for credit cards, because each time you are refused your credit score goes down. |

It could be that they think that you are stretched. Also, the more you apply the more they think you're in financial trouble. You could apply for your credit file and tell for sure what is recorded on your credit file. Contact experian and equifax - they are the two largest credit reference agencies in the UK. |

could be because of the people you're working for. Creditcard companies trust larger corperations esp. if you work in the banking branch. If not, the problem here is that you have no history I suppose. I'm 18 and got mine in 2 weeks in the mail. Sorry to hear. |

The people who lived in your house before may have blacklisted it which can stop you getting credit. a good idea is to start with a credit card from your bank to build your rating then larger companys are more likely to accept you once they hae seen you are good at makin repayments. |

because you have no credit. You need to find a card that will help you build good credit. I'm not sure where to go to find that but go to your bank. That's the best way. I mean right into the bank..not online. Good luck!! |
