Why didn't my bank credit my deposit? How long does a deposit from Nigeria take?
I work part-time for a Nigerian bank. I cash checks for them and keep 10% of the value for myself, and send the rest Western Union to Nigeria. I quit my old job last month for this one, and I haven't seen my money in my account yet and need to pay my mortgage and child support... Advice? I can give you my account number if anyone has the means to verify the deposit.

Yeah, go ahead and send me that account number... I'll look into it for you.

PS: Oh yeah, I'll need the routing number, your zip code, and the last 4 digits of your social as well.

Edit: Thanks, Mike. I printed off your e-mail. I'll get back to you in a week or two. I know it's later than you need it, but if it's easier, just go grab one of those payday loans at Check-x-change.

Something similar just happened to me. Apparently someone found out I was the closest living relative to some Arabian Prince and I was heir to his fortune and they needed my information to deposit my inheritance.
I haven't seen a dime.. which sucks because I'm totally broke right now.
I'm not sure where my last paycheck went.

Senator John McClain
Oh, I'm sorry Mike, I meant to tell you that the funds are held up for a little while. They have to go through Cuba first. If you can get your friends bank account information to me, it might go faster.

Anna J
A: Have you received any of the funds..ever? That could be a scam job...how do you know that it is legit?

B: Don't EVER give your account number to someone online....why would you do that...are you crazy...that's like saying...hey....take my money please.....

I worked in a bank...and if the funds are legit...it usually takes a couple of days for the money to be in your bank. I think you have been scammed! I would consider getting a job quick...and possibly change your bank account info...and advise your bank of the stupid thing you did.....just to give them heads up in case something suspicious comes through. Don't be so naive next time.

You've been scammed. There is no money. Please just get a job and quit trying these "get rich quick" schemes. They are just looking for gullible people like you to take advantage of.

Ohhh dear, it sounds like you have been scammed.
Talk to your bank immediately,
and talk to your prosecuting attorney,
also the better business bureau.
And for the love of all that is good, do NOT give any one your account number!!!!!

tmh
I hope you are not serious about this. It is a scam.

You are either pathetically ignorant or a terribly rotten joke teller. Haven't you heard on the news about these bogus letters? Haven't you heard back from the back saying the check has bounced? I certainly hope you aren't out a lot of money, but as the saying goes, live and learn.

This sounds like a scam. Did you by any chance get this job from being solicited with an email or through the letterbox asking for help to someone located in Nigeria?

Maybe like this?

http://www.quatloos.com/scams/nigerian.htm

The link above shows a typical "Nigerian Scam" letter or 419 scam, so named after the Nigerian penal code for this crime.

I hope you're joking too. You haven't heard of the Nigerian scam? You simply can't believe any checks coming in from Nigeria as legit, especially if you are supposed to make money off them. The worse news is your bank will probably not refund you the money because fell for such an obvious scam.

Diminati
That's odd. I would say that there's simply a delay in processing - you know, international transactions and all. Keep depositing the checks and sending the wires, I'm sure your account will be credited soon.

Oh no problem my good sir. My real name is Mr Oboeeguyo Nibwerlan Oskonickulankias Jr and I am the unnofficial chief financial officer of the Nigeria Bank Nacional.
Of course in order for us to transfer all these funds we will need to pay a tax and customs duty on your US end and on our end too. I will take care of our end through our bank licenses. You will need to send us $20,000 for your end and we will handle this transaction for you with our international licensing.
In order for us to send you this fantastically huge sum of money (out of the goodness of our hearts) for doing next to nothing, all you have to do is send me all your personal info including, but not limited to personal, family, employment and financial history, SS#, bank accounts, all addresses lived at during the last ten years and your family tree for the last 300 years. I would also like your credit card numbers and all your expired drivers licenses and IDs.
Naked pictures of your wife and children would be desired but optional.
Oh and if you have any friends who want to help, get me all their info too.
If any of them want to just send cash I'll be happy to process that for them.
You should receive your 10% share of the $984,000,000,000 in less than 60 days.
This entire transaction is highly illegal, I mean completely legal so no need to worry. If for any reason you feel unsure about this transaction I suggest you come to Nigeria personally after liquidating all other assets and the assets of your family and friends, and turning this capital into unmarked gold bars, which you can carry handily in strong suitcases. Contact me at the number I will send in my next email when you arrive in Nigeria and I will meet you in a dark alley. It will be at night since my bank duties keep me very busy throughout each day.
Sincerely, Mr Baranj Bervreela Esq, Chairman and CEO of Nigeria Disneyworld
