Why do banks have the right to limit how much I can spend in a day from my own checking account?

Father Jake
It is a security measure in case someone else gets hold of your details.
You can get the amount increased normally, and of course you can always go to the bank itself and withdraw to your hearts content.

mackr3w69
it's a security measure, oh and because you chose them to do your banking

becca
In case there is fraud on your account. If someone got a hold of your information and withdrew as much as they could then you wouldn't be so mad at the limits, you would be thankful for them.

They don't limit how much you can spend, just how much cash you can take. It's a checking account, you can write checks all day long if you want to.

to prevent fraud and limit theft.

technically there shouldn't be a limit. i.e., you walk into your bank and ask to withdraw everything. if your talking about your ATM card, they might put a daily cap on it for security reasons.

mariz
Are you under 18? Because before when I'm 17 i got a checking account and it has restriction same as yours... And one reason, it will prevent from thief getting big money from one snap. And they also help you save money because we all know we spend too much unconsciously. they don't want you spend too much

because you are a high risk investment. You should have opened an acount with a higher minimum balance .

joel ramirez r
they are making sure that you maybe are just someone who is jacking the money from someone else's account and that way if that really happens you will not lose all your money and so they can charge themselves from your account.

So someone can't steal your card and spend $1000s of dollars

Judy1
They don't, other than limiting you to what's in your account. You can write as many checks as you want to as long as the money is there to cover them.

If you are asking about ATM withdrawals, they limit that to limit liability for lost/stolen cards, and to be sure there's money in the machine for the next person who wants to do a withdrawal.

I wonder the same d@mn thing. Its your money so you have the right to withdrawal all the money if you want too, I guess its their way of telling you its now not your money and you dont have control over it. Waiting in line for your money is also crazy as hell also
