You can do your part to stop the abuse by reporting answers that violate Yahoo Answers Community Standards. Insulting remarks qualify for reporting. You don't always see the results because too many people don't take the time to report abuse. There have been six answers since Pooty. If he had been reported by you and anyone else, then my report would have certainly gotten his answer removed. Someone even gave Pooty a thumbs up.
UPDATE: Pooty is gone from the answers to this question! He was reported by enough people. Thanks to those who helped. |

Many people actually are very polite. But, there are some mighty stupid questions that get asked sometimes, and when I run into those, my polite button tends to go on the blink. Stupid questions really don't deserve a polite answer sometimes. |

Some people do not provide all the relevant info, so certain inferences or assumptions have to be made based on the limited info given. Some of the questions posted are really stupid. Some of the answerers are stupid, too. And some answers may seem "rude," but are just plain frank and honest, which the asker may not like, but really needs. |

Even though some people deserve it, I iam like you, we have no right to answer an honest question with rudeness.
Until you and I walk a mile in their shoes, we have no reason to act like that.
Now, i do get rude with people trying to take advantage of others online. |

Some of the questions are so bad, there is no polite way to respond.
And you are very wrong about having no clue about another person's situation. Sometimes the question makes it abundantly clear exactly what their situation is. |

Yeah, people like to be rude because since they are making fun of faceless people they willl never meet they will suffer no consequences from it. It makes them feel good, so I guess we should try to feel bad for them or something. |
