I transferred some money from my Alliance and Leicester Bank account in the UK on Friday 7th and it should have gone into my NatWest Account today at the latest. Both banks are part of the UK's new faster payment system so technically the money should have been there Friday but I gave it a few days just in case. |

I have this problem too. Yes technically with faster payments the money should be in. It's Alliance and Leicester - for some reason because they're a building society the payments always take 2 days longer to show. (I only discovered this recently when making a rent payment, to my detriment).
Faster payments is not guaranteed, whereas BACS is. So just be aware for the future you'll be better off arranging a BACS 3 days before you need the money to credit. Alternatively, you could draw out the cash from your A&L a/c and pay in at a Natwest branch. If you do this before 3pm, the cash credits our account the same day. Not so convenient as doing it online though of course. |

Not strictly true. Even with the fast payment system it can still take up to 3 working days meaning that the funds might not clear until Tuesday or Wednesday. |

I'm sure it's similar to banking in the US, because after a certain time on Friday's it would be considered a transfer on the next business day which is Monday, so if it doesn't show up today, I'd call the bank. |

Contact your bank(alliance) and ask them what is happening, if they send the money.... and then contact natwest.

If it was an internet transfer the money should have been transferred straight away, no delay. If you went to the bank or faxed instructions it's 3 working days in the UK (so expect it by Tuesday/Wednesday). |
