Because that is about as silly as leaving it on the front porch.
I have been robbed, and you are to NEVER EVER put money under a mattress. That's one of the first places burglars look to see a stash of cash. That and dresser drawers, jewelry boxes and the like. Those are common places to think you are stashing cash, but burglars know that is the first place to look!
Thankfully, I DID NOT do this, but my bedroom was completely torn apart. |

In the U.K. your money is safe up to £30,000, if you have more then spread it over different banks.

If you feel you must be in cash, then put it in a safe deposit box.
However, be aware that banks must report cash transactions over $10,000 to the IRS. This is not attention you want to attract. |
