Well, if you are rich, petty cash takes on a whole new meaning. It could be that it was dirty money, but people who have a lot of money tend to spend a lot of money, and for them it might have been similar to some of us having a few hundred dollars in the house. |

for tax reasons. when you file your taxes, the irs wants to know how much money you have on hand.
although you're not generating any interest, you have access to your money whenever you want. whereas if you try to make a large withdrawal, the bank notifies the IRS.

Easy access. For someone in his position that is walking around money. If my employer did not insist on direct deposit, I would not have a bank account. Cash doesn't bounce, cash is an asset and not a debt. |
