I assume you are in the US. As the first poster said you will need a co-signer. Somebody has to be legal on the account. You are signing a legal document and you have to be 18 to do it.
There is only one way out of this, and ive signed up bank accounts for 16 year olds before. You have to be emancipated. You go to the court and ask them to declare you a legal adult. This will rid all responsibilities that your parents have over you and you are an adult. Takes about a month. But its like divorcing your parents. You will need to prove to the court even though you are not 18 you act as an adult.
Court signs that, you are an adult at any age. And you can sign anything you want as an adult. But thats the only way I see you getting a bank account without an adult. You should be able to get a savings account, but not a shot in a hell a checking account.

You have to call the individual banks. Some banks will allow a checking account with a limited writing capability, while many do not. Just call around. I was 17 for 5 months when I graduated from high school and it was a pain to find a bank that would let me open one without a cosigner.
My cousin lived in another state and her only bet was a savings account and money orders.
The problem is that once you get someone else to cosign on the account, they remain cosigners. 4 years down the road, you could have financial problems, they are stuck for them since they cannot be removed as cosigners without you opening a new account. |

Yes - go to your local bank and as long as you have the money to put into the account and maintain it there is no reason why you can't. My son did with no trouble. |

Yes, you can. Just have your id (driver's licence ect) and money to deposit. When I was 16 and I had a job I did it at WAMU. |

Na you have to have a co-signer it doesnt have to be a parent of a guardian it could be anyone ovr the age of 18. unitl you are 18 it has to be that way. it may vary from state to state tho. |

You can open a savings account where you dont have a visa or mastercard, but you can still withdraw from your bank or atm. |

yes, its called a student account (you dont have to be a student) some banks may require parent consent. also you have to have $100-150 to put in your account upon opening it, but you can take it out the next day with no penalty or fee. be sure to ask about the terms and conditions because at some banks you have to have your parents permission to with drawl from your savings account. but usually not your checking account. from my experience Wells Fargo has the best student banking plan, but i dont know if that bank is where you live. also bank of America sucks for student banking, so dont even think about them. good luck. |
