try looking on sites that may have records of your birth (ex. website of the state you were born in) . I lost my birth certificate so my mother had to request a copy from the state of california. it cost about $30 for a copy. |

You are going to need to call your local social security office to get a copy of the card. It's inexpensive and easy once you fill out the paperwork. |

You look young, so you can ask your school, they will have record of it. Also, if you have ever worked, they will actually have a photo copy of it. Then you can go fill out a paper, for free, at the social security administrative office, and in two weeks you'll get one in the mail.
If you can't get the number from one of those places, you still go to the social security office, but fill out some different paperwork, I believe there is a fee this way. But they'll mail it to you. |

Your mom should go to city hall, the city you was born in and fill out an application with you and her information and you should be able to get a new one. |

What state do you live in? Just google "social security" and state.. And you should find your answer. Or goto your local social service and ask for a new one.. Hope this helps.. |

Holy cow...why in the world did your mom keep your social security number in her purse? You aren't even supposed to keep your *own* SSN in your purse, much less someone else's. Yikes!
At any rate, I'm presuming you are in the US? Take identification with you and go to your local Social Security Office. You can get a replacement card there.
You'll need to take documents proving citizenship (such as a copy of your birth certificate), and documents showing identity (such as your drivers license).
Its all spelled out here, on the Social Security Administration website: http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ |

Get out the phone book. It's a big heavy book. Comes in 2 colors white & yellow. Look thru it for the social security office in your town & call the number given. When someone answers tell them you have lost your SS card & would like a replacement. They will give you SO much help you will wonder why it took you this long to call. |
