Will my credit score ever get better....?
Ok, I'm current on all my crediters (car loan, credit card, and my student loan deferrment is just about done). I have slipped up a few times due to job losses and it affected my credit score pretty bad. My car went into reposession status twice, but never has gotten repo'ed (luckily both times were around tax return time so I was able to save myself), as well as my utility bills got reported, as well as a cell phone bill. I'm doing okay now and I don't forsee any problems in the future (cross fingers), but, how bad will this affect my future? Im planning on buying a house in a few years, and Im just worried my credit will get us denied. (I think my score is like a 520 or something :( ) I'm 22, and like I said, I have a credit card (max out @ $3,000 cuz i had to fix my transmission on my car) that I went late a few times on, and my car. Also, on my credit report it said there were 6 items in good standings, and 5 that were not in good standings (although I'm current on everything) please help i'm kinda worried that I won't have a bright future! : Thanks....no sarcasm please

as you found out, it's not just loans and credit cards that get reported. late bills too. you managed to trip nearly every trigger they have.

if you have no more events, in a couple of years your score will be better. you should get that 3000 CC payed down. one of the ratios they use is debt:available credit. you are at 100%. very bad.

there can be a delay between the actual event and it arriving on your report. especially for utility and phone bills. they are very prompt to report you are late. a report that you are caught up can take seemingly forever.

You really need to set up a budget and learn to live within that budget. All those late payments are killing your credit. You might consider reading some boods or taking some classes on financial management and budgeting.

Derogatory items will age off your credit report 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. The older the negatives, the less impact on your score. If you plan on buying a house in the future, you should wait till the derogatory items age off or negotiate settlement. Mortgage companies will require that all negative items be resolved.

Carrying balances of more than 30% of your limit on that credit card, hurts your score. Pay off the balance and your score will rebound.

You really need to work paying everything on time. All those late payments are killing you. You will need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to see any improvement in your score.
