Good to know so many are choosing the house. I've been to three weddings in the past few months that must have cost $20K or more. They were nice, but it just seems like such a waste to me.

House, no question. Or use a much smaller amount for a nice, small wedding, and use the rest for a house.
My opinion is that our culture endorses spending way, way too much on an overblown party. Yes, it's a very important day for a couple, but every day after that is just as important! You're building a marriage, not just a wedding!
Too many couples have problems in their relationship because of financial issues, and it doesn't strike me as a good idea to start off the relationship in debt because of a big party that takes months to plan and often ends up stressing them both out so much that it's hard to enjoy it. |

House. I plan on having a very simple wedding and honeymoon. Actually, I plan to spend more money on the first anniversary. That way you can actually enjoy yourself instead of worrying about the wedding night and whether he/she will still like you tomorrow. (And all the thank you notes you have to send out. Ugh.) |

Let's see, spend $10,000 on one day of your life, or $10,000 on a house that you will probably live in for quite some time and the cash will help lower your montly payment. I go with spend it on the down payment. |

The house can build equity which can eventually pay you back the 10,000+. The wedding, though an event to remember, is generally the one day to break the bank to express your love and unfortunately for many to impress others. But for some the wedding is worth the $$ however I will have to go with the house if I had to choose between the two. |

i m Muslim boy and from religious point of view our HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD PEACE BE UPON HIM also ordered the Muslim fo spent their money according to their needs...so house is a need and not wedding
HE also taught us that we must celebrate our weddings in simple and honest manner....
so don't spend much money on these kinds of occisions...we should try to help the poor and needy people because we all know that alot of people around us live with out and food and any other basic needs of life...ok thnx |

well i would say a house! but if you really want to split it up you could use 5,000 down for a house and 5,000 for the wedding or 9,000 for the house and 1,000 for the wedding. |
