Would you get into debt to give to charity?
I normally try to help out when i can, but times are hard for me. i can donate say £20 to pudsey and put it on my credit card. would you do this? Is it sensible or am I all shook up?

sorry no
charity begings at home
that dosnt mean that if say my sister needed help I wouldnt use my credit card to help her but a lot of the money given to charity goes on promotions adds leaflets admin costs less than half on any given charity actually gets to the people you want it to go to

Frankie i was stopped today at a local supermarket and asked to give money to children in need, so i said i ve got 2 children in need at home speacially this time of year they seem to need everything. The lady was very snotty with me, if she had of been nicer then perhaps i would of dug a bit deeper, but at the end of the day as the saying goes charity begins at home. If you can afford to give and you feel its for a good course then give, but you have also got to think about you and your own family. This might sound selfish but i had kids to look after them my self.

Rochester
It's your call what to do with your own money.
But I wouldn't give a dime, debt or no debt.

zeldieuk2002
i would only give whatever i could afford at the time, i would like to help more, but i can't afford it! i would never refuse to help any child charity, but i wouldn't get into debt, who would help me out?
it may sound selfish, but if all i can afford to give at the time is £2, then so be it, it's better than giving nothing

Sunny-T
Nope I wouldnt

why not wait until payday and then go into your bank and give to pudsey that way you are not using your credit card.

Nicole
It's better, in my opinion, to make sure you're NOT in need of charity first and then give to charity. Why not give your time if you don't have extra cash?

kittyfreek
Get a grip. Why would you impoverish yourself and why? It makes no sense at all to give away money you don't even have yet . If it's on the credit card it's not yours til you've paid it back with interest - and why 20 pounds on the credit card?
20p, in cash from you're own pocket is far more honest if that's all you can really afford.
If times are hard why don't you give a really precious commodity - your time - and work for a voluntary organisation like the Salvation Army or Oxfam ( there are hundreds if not thousands more).
You won't run further into debt or worry yourself sick about not being to pay your bills.

First Lady
No. Then you'd be the one in need of charity.
