Ichigo | Would you rather have a high paying job you hate or a lower paying one that you love? |
Assuming you hold the job until the day you die (no quiting the rich job, investing $1 million and getting lazy). |

Absolutely the lower-paying job that I love. If I enjoy what I do, I never have to "work" a day in my life. |

Johnny U is right, absolutely right. A bright man, persevering and I would be wrong if I say his life plan may fail...never...for I'm sure he will succeed after sowing a good investment TIME!!!
Anything you love to do is not a sort of WORKING...it is an everyday leisure and pleasure...meaning ....happy and long long life REWARDS OF HEAVENS.....DON'T BELIEVE ME...TRUST ME!
I always tell my younger engineers before about 3 decades ago...that the MOST IMPORTANT IN STARTING TO WORK IS TIME INVESTMENTS ....LEARN TO WORK HAPPY IN EVERYTHING YOU DO...AND THE LAST THAT MUST BOTHER THEM IS the amount of pay they are receiving...as a starting salary....learn first and excel in all aspects of your endeavor....be focused on your work and as if you are just doing your most liked hobby daily....learn to work well with peers, subordinates, and superiors...you will notice that time is too short and not boring...but enjoyable and trusting....
Learn to find satisfactions in every aspects of your task....develop skills by innovative and fantastic approach with confidence and relaxing....tell yourself that the more you watch, the less I work....learn to work with least supervision...
...and by time you will notice...rewards and appreciations by all possible modes shall be in your favor...too soon and the least you expect....
...motivation is coupled by right attitudes....so a good working attitudes because you love your work is fast developing....and you feel more energetic every day....and inspired....accomplishments is a good source of happiness....salary is secondary....
But sorry Ichigo, I find your assumption of your Q, truly unrealistic, does, it will not definitely be true to life's situation...
Your assumption of 1M$ is even to low for a life time....do you think so? For a good dreaming and ambitious Johnny? Hardworking and a happy mood hobbyist who's works is just a mere hobby in life? Please offer more....for instead of the work I may hate, its your offered supposed to be high paying job ...but in truth is low for Johnny's....do you think so?
But I forget to tell you....NOTHING IS HATEFUL WHEN YOU TRY TO DEVELOP YOUR INTEREST IN EVERYTHING YOU DO....SO THE OFFER OF 1m$ SHALL BECOME TOO LOW.....
CAN YOU MAKE A LITTLE CONSIDERATION TO INCREASE AT LEAST 10 TO 15 % YEARLY....JOHNNY MAY TAKE YOUR OFFER...YOU THOUGHT HE HATES TO WORK WITH....(initially, I'll let you feel such, for a better conditions)....
Its like you offer a beautiful lady to marry but with dull brain, vis a vis a very bright charming lady but not that beautiful as you first offered.....do you think...I'll settle with the beautiful lady...or a charming but bright but not as beautiful as the other one....I would choose to have bright children since I'm handsome, I believe my children will be bright and good looking family circle....hehehehehe....bye! |

I'd go for a job that I love. It would be a drag to wake up in the mornings to go to work EVERYDAY if you hate the job....you'll die faster. |

I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. |

i have to hold the rich job until i die, and i hate it? well that defeats the purpose of the high paying job then, doesn't it.
the bottom line is that i would hate my life, rich or poor, so the question id kind unrealistic. i would take the high paying job,
get my raised and thru colloege, thenquit and take the fun job. like what i am doing now. delayed rewards, thats what was drilled in growing up. |

i would rather have a lower paying job i love assuming that i wasn't dirt poor. if i made enough to get by on and a few pennies left over for my pocket, while having full satisfaction and joy in the job, i would have that any day over dealing with stress, disgrace, disgust, and dispair of a job i despise. |

It depends on the difference in pay but most likely the high pay because I would get my happiness from my life away from work. |

I have been struggling with this for awhile. I have been in Corporate America for 15 years and very tired of it. Unfortunately obligations sometimes keep you working somewhere you do not want to. My wife and I have being talking lately about getting the heck out of dodge.
We have a nice nest egg and could potentially have a career change in the future. The problem is what to do that would provide a decent income (not at the current level).
If I had to do all over again, I would choose the job you love. Money is nice, but wanting to get up and go to your job is better.
Just to stir the pot a little, why do you need a job?? We can you not work for yourself doing something you love?? I would do that in a heart beat if I could only figure out what I want to be when I grow up!!! |

Lower paying that I love. It is really hard to go to work every day when you hate being there. Been there, done that and wouldn't give up my job now for anything. |
