how long did you hang around after? I was waiting in a cue for a cash point once and someone was trying to draw out money but thy were having probs and turned round and said they didn't think it was working they walked off in to the bank and then £200 popped out as went to give my card a try!! I was a good girl and went in and gave it to them and they were very grateful and stuff.
Maybe it came out after you walked away and someone pocketed it? I hope not and I hope the bank will reimburse you eventually !!! |

Not quite but someone I know used to put a thin layer of glue on them when they where the roll tops. He would wait until a couple of people had made a withdrawal and couldn't get their money then lever it open with a screw driver and take the money. |

Yes, I know the dilemma your going thru right now. But it's quite surprising how slow the response from your place. This happened in the Philippines and 10 years ago, what happened to me at the time was, the money I withdrew was about to come out, there was a system down and when it was up again, I right away printed a bal. receipt and yup what I was scared of happened. My money didn't came out but it was deducted to my account. The next day, it was sorted right away. This is just a matter of how systematic, efficient your bank in responding with this kind of trouble-shooting, esp for ATMs. Good luck, hope you can get your cash back asap. |

i had a similar experience.
i withdrew £40 and got the money but when i checked my bank statement it showed 2 withdrawals of £40 on the same day at almost the same time.
i went into the bank and to start with they weren't too helpful but i persisted and eventually got to talk to the manager and he agreed that it was a bank error and refunded me the money.
keep on with your complaint, £50 is nothing to the banks but a lot of money to most people. |

I went to withdraw £20.00 I pressed cancel, then took my card back, i held on for a bit, then £20.00 came out!
It was a barcays hole in the wall. |

I had a similar thing happen in france and got no where with it. You should have more luck in the UK.
If you are a good customer to them and you get nothing back, tell the area manager you are going to move banks, bit extreme for £50 but it depends on how you feel about it. |

my girlfriend had the same experiance... she went and got £200 pounds and nothing came out! yet it had been deducted from her account.... she wrote a letter and contacted the bank and the B******S never gave it her back... so she duely closed her account with them and moved banks....... think it was the abbey
keep on hasseling them........ and say you have a witness!....that nothing came out!!!

Yes I have had this problem. see your Bank manager in person. I did and when the bank is different from your own it can take a few days longer. But I had mine returned within 24 hrs, since it was my own banks ATM |

No but I've heard of it happening. Not sure how long it should take but they should be able to look at their records for that date and obviously there will be a £50 excess at the end of that particular day. |

8 weeks! That is rubbish!!
If the ATM was at a bank the cash will be counted & balanced at least once a week. Inside the machine there is a journal roll that records every transaction so they will be able to look at yours and see that you should have got £50. If they have a £50 surplus when they count the cash then it could be yours. You will probably have to complete some kind of form detailing the transaction date, time etc. Sometimes the error will be quite clear as there will be an error message on the journal roll besides your transaction if the drawer failed to open etc.
If the ATM was 'off site' eg. at a petrol station, supermarket etc the machine will be maintained by Securicr or Brinks on behalf of the bank and so will not normally be balanced as often, maybe only once a month.
If it was an ATM belonging to a bank other than your own, you usually have to go to your own bank who then liase with the bank that owns the machine to get themoney back for you. |
