18 and ready to move out! Help please...?

Hello!
I am finally ready to move out of my parents house.
But I'm unsure of exactly where I want to move to.
I have ideas in mind about the kind of place I want to live in, and I've got a few places already, but it would be appreciated if you can recommend some places that will suit my needs. My needs are....
- Not a location that is rife with students, I'm not into living the ''student lifestyle'' Weird I know, I hate getting drunk, and wouldn't really feel as if I belonged there.
- I have Â£500 maximum to spend on rent per month.
- Not fussed about a house or a flat, although I would prefer to rent a house.
- Little crime.
- Close-knit community.
- University is within a 1 hour drive.

Probably a little far fetched, and I probably can't afford it, but I'd like somewhere near the beach ( If possible )

I think thats all!
If you have any cities that you think may suit my needs, I'd appreciate help!

The University of Portsmouth might be a viable solution.

You could rent a flat in Gosport, which lies the other side of Portsmouth Harbour. Really good 2 bed flats come in at around Â£400.00 per month.

Gosport, Alverstoke, Brockhurst and Elson are all reasonably crime free and safe to walk after dark (I would avoid Bridgemary and Rowner).

Portsmouth Uni is a short ferry ride and 5 minute stroll from Gosport. It is best to leave your car in Gosport (parking you see). Gosport has a large number of decent Pubs, in which you are not pressed to get drunk. The local Churches all run outreach programs and the Local Authority is happy to offer advice (parking is mainly free). The flat topography and abundance of cycle paths, make cycling a very convenient and popular option.

We came for a maximum of 5 years and have stayed. We found a real welcome in the community!

There are beaches all around: Southsea, Stokes Bay, Lee on Solent. Slightly further afield you can get to Selsey Bill, Hayling Island and, of course.......... all those Isle of Wight beaches! Bournemouth is 1 hour away.

Portsmouth has several excellent leisure and shopping areas: Port Solent, Gunwharf and Southsea. Port Solent is very laid back, with a variety of good restaurants, cinema, Sunsail club, health clubs and easy parking. Gunwharf is more of a shopping precinct, with multiplex cinema, a wide array of decent restaurants for chilling while watching the harbour traffic. There are, of course, plenty of bars.

Southsea is a frenetic nightlife area........ a bit of a zoo, later on!

There are several yacht clubs, in fact a dozen, or more, ranging from inshore catamarans to round-the-world yotties. The Hardway Club is always looking for crew, experienced, or novice........... They indulge in Cowes Idiot Week, as do most of them........... A popular club is the Joint Services Club at HMS Dolphin, at the mouth of the harbour, by the Submarine Museum. They accept civilian membership. I can, if necessary, put you in touch with my Yachtmaster friend, who keeps his oceangoer down there.

........... it is pretty much whatever you want it to be........

And I didn't even mention Fareham!............which is pretty decent.............

Edinburgh seems to meet your needs

Brighton!
Its upcoming, cheap, very little crime, great transport links to London, University of Brighton is 5 minutes away. And its has a beach!

move somewhere close to home for at least the first six months as it'll be easier to get your things home when you realise you're too young to flee the nest. but fair play to you for having the backbone to try....2 more years

wel;l good luck , your getting to learn about the real world, you dont set the price for your rent, someone else does.

A max of 500 for rent isn't going to get you much and what about all the other expenses? You'll have utilituies, grocery's, transportation, phone, internet. Do some more math before making any moves

um well where do u live now?

move down on the south coast... southsea

South of France but work for a while then do college.

Stay at home , you'll only end up in masses of debt. if you must move out - get yourself in halls in the uni you go to until you meet some friends to share with , at 18 if you are not going to piss all your cash away you should save it all up for a couple of years travelling when you finish Uni,
