Laws regarding eviction vary from state to state, but you have a right to correct whatever it is that the landlord is evicting you for (delinquent payment) in a reasonable amount of time. Also varying from state to state are the legally allowed late fees which are laid out in "Every Landlord's Legal Guide"

Eviction for a six day delay in rent payment is excessive, but you should in any case communicate your intentions to pay with your landlord.

legally yes you can be evicted. They can start the eviction process they after the rent is due. But i doubt you will be if you have been a good tenant for the last 3 years. Contact the manager, pay the late fee and you should be fine. Landlords hate to evict people (lots of work on them), it takes a few months and if they don't have to they will not do it.

talk to the landlord and see if there is a payment plan you can go on. After the grace period of 5 days past due, the 3 day count down begins. After 3 days they can put a payent demand letter on your door stating that you have 30 days to vacate or pay. Ignore this. It's really saying that they will start the eviction process in 30 day. The eviction process can take up to 6 months. After the judge gives the go ahead, you will see a red sheriffs tag on your door stating that you have 3 days to leave. The red tag is the one to take seriously. The sheriffs wont give you any time beings by this point that you have been there rent free for 6 months.

Probably not. It depends on your contract. Most allow you a month's notice either way.

You don't say if he threatened to evict. Some landlords LOVE you to pay rent for the extra late fees.

It really depends on the lease agreement/contract you signed with your landlord. Most places will give you a little time, but you need to get it in ASAP and with an apology.

it depends you need to check with the laws in your lease you usally have a chance to pay it before the court date with extra fees
