knuttery | Am I financially liable for a rental laptop that was stolen? |
I have leased (rent to own) a laptop from Aarons rent to own and it was stolen yesterday. Before I go and talk to the people at Aarons Id like to know where I stand and if I will still be responsible for continuing payment. |

There is usually a premium for theft/damage coverage, and if you weren't paying it, you may be liable. You need to check your rental agreement to know for sure. |

Yes, you're responsible unless you had some kind of theft insurance on it. |

Yes, you're responsible.
If you have renter's insurance, and it was stolen from your home, you may be able to recoup the loss. But yes, you are financially liable. |

That's what insurance is for...if you don't have any, then you are responsible. |

Did they ask you if you wanted insurance on it ? What does it say in your "Lease Agreement"? Did you read the "Fine Print"? Difficult as it seems, you are subject to continue payments until matters are resolved. |

Yep, you're responsible. Hopefully, your rental contract included some sort of insurance to pay for the laptop in the event of theft, loss or damage. |

First off you need to get a police report. Take that to Aaron's, Yes you will still need to pay but the insurance they have there covers theft. I am not sure how they will go about this but I do know they have theft coverage.
Aaron's is a great store that is willing to work with you but if there isnt any proof that it was stolen then there isnt anything you can do. Make sure you get that police report!!!
Good Luck |

Did they offer you insurance for theft or damage when you rented the item? If you refused insurance then you should be responsible for the total cost. If they did not offer insurance you might have a case. Will your home owners or auto insurance cover the theft? |

you shouldnt be, they shouldnt be renting if there not covered with insurance for things happening like that..good luck |
