However i want to find out the last name of the person that owns it. I know their stepsons last name but not theirs. Yes, they are public. Many municipalities make them available online, some for free. For OK, go to http://www.oklahomacounty.org/ and check out the Online Services. You will need to go to "Mortgage/Deeds" or "Search Land Records".

Start with the assessor or recorders website for the county. In most places that I have done work like this, I have been able to find the data there. The next step is a phone call. Be polite and up front. Some won't give you anything, some will give you everything. |

Yes they are public as I found out myself. Just go to the courthouse. Also I went to the website zillow.com and typed in my address it will tell you your home price + specs of your home. I was amazed! Good Luck! |

Believe it or not..they are public.. YOu can go to your county recorder's office and get most any information you want... I think it is not fair but that is the way it is. |

Yes, records as SUPPOSED to be open to the public to come and vew and/or research. HOWEVER, there are some counties in some states that prefer to put up barriers for the general public. Should that happen, you might consider asking a title company for suggestions. Or, if you can afford it, have them do the research for you. |
