It's benefiting as well as hurting. Immigrants want to come here for opportunity and freedom and that is ok as long as it's legally done. However, a vast majority of immigrants come here illegally and now there is overpopulation. That sucks because in the short term, the cheap wages they make (which is probably less than minimum since there is no law that will protect their earnings) and their slave labor will contribute to lower prices for Americans, but in the long run, this will drive up higher prices as well due to the amount of people coming in, such as higher home prices (yes, there are other factors as well, but overpopulation does contribute to this) and other things. It is a short term benefit, which in the long run will hurt all of us, but most people are accustomed to instant gratitude and satisfaction. In some areas of the U.S already, most people can't afford to own a home anymore, even with decent wages, and they can't refinance now that interest has risen up too. And employers won't have to hire people with higher wages since there are so many more people willing to work for less, unless you have some unique talent or education. |

In the short term they benefit many Americans by keeping the cost of goods and services low. However, overall they stagnate wage increases and contribute to over-population. Perhaps we should annex Mexico to the U.S. as the 51st state! |
