It is a great time because the house prices have dropped and there is plenty to choose from, make sure, if you get a mortgage to take a good mortgage protection in case you loose your job. |
|

Oh no!
|
If you can get a mortgage then yes, prices are not going to keep dropping forever. |

I agree if you are buying a house to keep for the long run and not as a quick investment, as after you get your mortgage you will prob end up in negative equity for a while where your house is valued less then your mortgage. But if you can ride this out and arent planning on selling it again for a while then the value will increase. Dont get caught out and be left with a property that is worth less then your paying on your mortgage leaving you struggling. |

Yes. But only if you can get a mortgage that does not stretch you too much and you look at it as a home/long term investment rather than a cash cow. With so few homes and so many people in the UK, the only way is up even if it does take a little while longer! |

buy now its a great time to grab a bargain, just make sure you can get a mortgage though as they could be quite difficult at the moment as you will need to have a pretty good deposit to get a good deal... |

If you can get a mortgage, then go for it. |

depends, if you've got a high deposit to put towards it and can get a mortgage then it's a great time to buy as house prices are so low. If not then keep on renting for the time being. |

Sorry but i just do not agree with the people saying now is a great time to buy. Buy now and 6 months from now you will be kicking yourself. Things are going to get a lot worse yet and house prices today will seem lala land a year from now. When the market finally bottoms there will be so many repossessions in the market that recovery will take some time and you will have to be deaf and blind to miss the boat. |

There has never been a better time to buy, you can pick up a bargain! |

You never can tell but my best guess is that house prices will fall by at least the same amount, why?
1) The resession has not really started yet, it very likely that a lot of people will lose there jobs and not be able to afford their current morgages, forceing prices down.
.
2)Its likely next year that the outstanding amount of morguage debt will fall, this is very unusal, and without enought credit in the market prices will even freeze, or prices will have to fall.
3)House prices are above the long term trend. |
