Thanks! | As a pregnant woman, do I have any legal right to stay in rented accommodation after notice is served? |
My landlord has just served notice and my partner and I will have to move out three weeks before our baby's due date. The landlord has not breached our contract in any way but I'm wondering if there is anything that may prevent him from doing this in light of our circumstances. |

No. |

I think the technical answer to your question is: no.
Your landlord is acting in accordance with your lease agreement. You are obligated to do the same. Move out. |

You have had your notice ... don't use your Baby as an excuse! |

He gave you a notice - you are living in HIS place - why do you think you can stay? |

I've never heard of a pregnancy escape clause in a rental contract. |

Yet another case of a tenant thinking they can do anything they like and the rules are written around them! What's a pregnancy got to do with it? Would you be more sympathetic to your landlord's needs if they were pregnant? I think not.
You have been given notice - it's part of your contract - you have to vacate and find somewhere else!
Would just like to add that, if you have been an excellent tenant and your landlord doesn't have anyone else for the property, he may be agreeable to letting you stay on a month to month basis. Enquire with him - it may be answer to everyone's problem. |

There is no provision that allows a pregnant woman to stay in a rented apartment/house when legal notice has been served to her to vacate it. |

Pregnancy has no bearing on your tenancy agreement. If your landlord has acted legally and within the terms of the contract, you have to move out. |

No...sorry. You could just refuse to leave and make him take you to court which will mean a longer period of time until you have to leave, but then you will probably have to pay the court costs and attorneys fees too. Sorry :( |

Hello,
If your landlord has done it correctly, the law will be on his side and you will have to vacate the premises, but if I was you, I would get to the local council housing dept as soon as possible and explain your circumstances, until you are on their list, you will not be able to apply to any housing associations for re housing, tell your landlord as he may be asked for a reference, and also explain you are having a baby, he may let you stay till you are re housed, good luck and keep well for both you and the baby's sake. |

No. My mate was evicted when she was pregnant because she thought being pregnant would protect her when she didn't pay her rent. |

claim squatters rights!!
on the day of the notice and he comes to get the keys. tell him that you have done nothing wrong and you refuse to move out as your contract hasnt ended.
if you havent done anything wrong and you still have time left on your tennancy aggreement he cant kick you out.
if he wants you out, he'll have to go to court, which will take months. when you go to court they will only give you notice to move out. and you will have to eventually have to move out. but this way you'll get about 6months.
if you do decide to claim squatters rights though, make sure you dont leave the house because he has the right to go in and change the locks. |
