I lhave a contract of one year in a property in uk i benn living about 6 months now i need to give notice to my landlord do i give one month notice or 2 months?

Assuming it is the same as here in the US, you have to read over your contract carefully to see what it states. Many leases do not allow you to break them before the expiration time. If for some reason you must, you may incur a fee while other landlords collect a security deposit when you first move in and you lose it if you break the lease. Some leases have a grace period of time before expiration (such as 6 months on a 1 year lease) in case of situations when the tenant must move.

In any case, one month should be suffice enough.

A month's notice would be suffice to give to your landlord.

1 month is the norm unless stated in your contract

Generally, after serving six months, it is a rolling contract on a monthly basis - you should only need to give one months notice.

if you pay your rent monthly then give a months notice

chynablue
you have to live out your contract. so 6 months, unless your landlord agrees to an early termination of contract for a small amount of money

Unless the terms of your lease states differently, you should give your landlord 30 days notice in writing to advise that you will no be extending your lease beyond the year in which the lease states. That gives the landlord time to give another tenant the opportunity to rent upon you vacating the dwelling.

READ your contract or lease. . . .it tells. . .

MellowMan
You will have to check tenancy agreement, but usually one months notice is normal.

Same_but_different
Go back to look at your contract or speak to the estate agent handling, if there is one. Usually tennants are given a year's lease with a six month break clause which means that after the six months they can give one month's notice.

Not sure where you're from. Laws differ. If Ontario, Canada, 60 days notice is required.
