Background check for an apartment rental?
What would an apartment complex look for in a background check??

they will look at your credit to see if have not paid rent before, of if you are really behind in bills. some places will not rent to you if you are in a significant amount of debt because they do not want you to default on your rent. they may also be looking to see if you are a criminal. sometimes if you have committed certain crimes you are unable to live in some places, like sexual offenders. often times though, they will not use this information against you, they just need to have it in case of emergency or a situation arises, for their own security and insurance.

credit report, criminal record, etc.

comusbassington
Whether or not you paid your bills at the last place you rented. Or are a convicted felon.

Most likely rental history and criminal history. Mostly just violent crimes or felonies.

depends on the apartment. some do extensive: criminal background, employment history, credit, rental history, etc. Some just stick to the basics. It depends on the apartment. It is dumb.

We are all screwed
credit and criminal history

Why wouldn't they?

I wouldn't want to live next to a convicted felon or a sex offender. The property manager is looking out for their tenants.

And it is not discrimination to turn down a felon. It's discrimination only if they reject your application based on your race, color, national origin, religion, sex, family status, or disability.

credit report, criminal record, eviction and more They really want to know a if you will be able to pay rent b if you have ever had an apt before and c if you have a criminal pass

Nichole
yes... some do while others dont, but be honest with them if you knwo you have a past

also make sure they use your social to run a background check... my brother tried to rent an apartment but they used his name, not his social security number... and i'm not gonna post his name, but its so common his HS graduating class had two people with the same first and last name so they rejected him at first

Rainna R
They usually dont look at credit scores.

They look for past rental history and How much you make verses your debt.

They try to make sure that you can afford your rent along with your expenses.

Dannie
basically your credit. to see if you either have established credit or how you pay your bills.

Mat G.
Whether or not you've ever killed somebody in an apartment complex.
