Being kicked out-Renting a new home- Low Income-HELP!?
Hello guys,

I have been surfing the web for ever & I can't seem to find any help with my situation. I am being kicked out of the house, long story, & I was already looking for my first place to rent with my boyfriend and dog. Now, I don't have time to be picky but we don't have good credit, well- hardley have any at all & both are very low income. I have 2 jobs plus school is starting soon...tried to look up govt./state funding or grants but I can't seem to find anything that makes sense. I know I'll need $ for security dep., 1+last mo. rent, etc., depending on the place but I will need help with that part. I live in Oakland County, MI--- Anyone know of some agency that can help? I have less then 30 days to do this....

Thank you for reading!

Felicia

hello felicia and house buddys. I know what you are going throw. I just went throw the samething but with kids. (long story). Screw apartment buildings they all want us to be perfect and w cant be. I would look for houses that they turned in to one bed room places and nab one.

Definitely try Section 8 or public housing. Hud.gov has great information for low income individuals/families.
Sect. 8 can have a long waiting list and can sometimes take a couple of years before you'll hear anything.
On the other hand, subsidized apartments/public housing is faster, as they can approve you on-site for reduced rent.

Felicia, if you truly are "low income" there are social programs to help you get into a place. Look into Section 8 housing and HUD sponsored housing programs. You should also, possibly, consider renting a room or half of a "duplex" and start very small, until you're better situated to get something bigger. There are options and you shouldn't panic. Thirty days is plenty of time.

I suggest discussing your financial situation with your realtor you seek to rent from. With that, also talk with your bank and see if you can take out a short term loan. Most banks have options even for no or bad credit people; as long as you can prove you DO have an income (no matter how much it is)

hope that helps..good luck
