If you want to be near the ocean then the coast of North Carolina is the best. If you want high mountains then western NC or east Tennessee is good. If you want good services then NC is the best.

NORTH CAROLINA!! Best southern state there is, particularly the mountain towns of Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Asheville. Beautiful scenery, neat cities, diverse population.

Tennessee. That's where I live and I love it. If I had to go anywhere else, it would be Florida, Alabama, or South Carolina :)

I currently live in GA, but I have lived in tenn. and NC. I prefer NC over all and plan to move back there. The mountain towns are the best like boone, mt. airy is beautiful, and the beach is beautiful there too kitty hawk, kill devil hills, and so on I have lived all over NC and love it there, can't wait to move back!

like people say "location, location, location" if your gonna pick one of those playing, checking for safety (from like everything), heat, agriculture, things that are really important. Try to not leave something big out because then it could destroy your life.
