Here is an example.
I'd love to find this type of house in a nice city/town near or at the beach or river/lake.
Thanks in advance!

Bungalows are popular just about everywhere in the US. Many were originally kit houses from Sears or Craftsman homes. Southern California is full of them from the older sections of Pasadena to Newport Beach and everywhere in between. You will find that they are not inexpensive any more and some of the Craftsman homes, though older, command competitive prices with modern construction. So don't worry. Pick where you want to live and then start your search. I guarantee that you will find something you like in the area you pick out.

They are all over America. Call a Realtor and ask them to do a search. They can limit their criteria to reflect anique homes near water in an area you desire. A builder can recreate what you want also.

A bungalow is actually just a freestanding single family house, usually one story over a basement or raised crawl space, and often refering to a style that became popular about the time they became accessable. Cabins sat down on the ground and are not bungalows. Cottages are smaller. I live in a bungalow in Dallas Texas with lots of others around me and my great aunt lived in one in Carrington ND in 1910. Most people lived in larger farm homes or in attached row houses in cities, if they owned.

I actually love this style of home.
I lived in Indianapolis and we had a lot of bungalows there.
Places that are near the beach that I would expect you'd find them are southern east-coast cities...like Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA...but that's just my guess

Does Heaven Have a Sportsbook?
Here's an idea. . .

Among what we consider bungalows today was a type of building that was actually sold by Sears! Sears would, in the earlier part of the 20th century, sell you a house and ship it in pieces to you via freight train for you to assemble on your land. Many of the smaller homes are now seaside bungalows. Do some research and maybe you can score a Craftsman bungalow!!!

San Diego has a little of this in places like Ocean Beach and Mission Beach (though many there got razed for apartments in MB), At LA and the rest of Southern Cal., it's a little scattered and tough to find, but I know that the New Jersey shore has a lot of this still very alive and well. Probably much more affordable, too. Good luck!

You find them everywhere - I think they're more popular in the south though. A lot of builders are bringing the bungalow into their new home plans.
