Buying a house with in-laws?
They proposed to buy 2 family house together. It is not investment, we all will live there. We are married for only 2 years, no children. I do not want to be responsible for the second part of the house financially.
What is the best way to do it? And what is your opinion on this deal?

I don't think living with in-laws is a good idea. Even if they are great people. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and in that time we have lived beside my parents house; beside his parents house; and now for over a year we've been renting a house that belongs to my grandparents. We are more than ready to get away from family so we can live our lives the way we want to. Everyone has an opinion when you live so close to them. Besides, once you sign for the house, you can NEVER get out of the deal. You could never sell your part because your in-laws wouldn't want anyone else living there. If this is the only option you have, then you can't turn it down, but trust me, even the good relationships between in-laws get stretched when you're living so close to them. Think things through before making a huge decision like this.

I would not go into any financial arrangement with any of your wife's family , your only asking for trouble . The closeness is not a good thing , you need your freedom...

What is wrong with you? Living with your in-laws?!?
I'd be looking at a completely different part of the country!

Take it from a 59 year old man that has had the same situation come up. NEVER do it my future Father In Law tried to get me to buy into a house for him to flip. He wanted 6,000.00 and then when it was done wanted another 35,000.00 and the house would be my girlfriends and i.

Sounds like a good way to ruin a perfectly good marriage. Buy your own house and let them buy their own.
**EDIT** If you're just looking for someone to tell you it's the right thing to do, you could have rephrased your question. Don't thumbs down everyone who tries to help by telling you from experience that this is a BAD idea. How original

you must place the whole agreement of who is responsible for what in writing, everything must be written out

Even if you have the best of relationship with your inlaws the statistics are not in your favor for success. Thank them for the offer, find your own home, and then invite them over for dinner.

That depends on how you feel about the in laws, it could be a god send, or living hell.

I know it's already been said, but DON'T DO IT!!! There goes your privacy if you do. And do you want them to be able to just walk next door to your house any time they want??
