I moved into a place owned by a housing association in February this year. at first while decorating there was alot of noise because there was no carpets down and the man that lived below me could hear basically everything except he was phoning the housing saying that im causing noise nuisance. They came out to visit me and served me with a noise abatement order. since then the noise has stopped. Me and my daughter moved in permanently and a few weeks later my now ex partner joined me except he was starting up all the noise again and i was suffering domestic violence from him so this gave a new reason for the neighbors to complain.
I was at the time terrified of this guy and he is now locked up in prison for doing what he did to me except the housing officer has asked my grandmother if i can move in with her and then told me to give up my flat and hand my notice in. I thought that because it was domestic violence they had to re-house you. Not intimidate you into moving out. They have now effectively left me and my 11 month old daughter homeless. Does anyone know what my rights are and what i can do about this situation?

I am confused. You knew this guy was abusive and you moved him into the property? Did the association agree to let him move in? They can evict you on this alone, forget the noise, you can't just move people in.
Who has to rehouse you? You are a mother, why aren't you supporting your child yourself?
You really need to step up to the plate and handle your housing yourself. |

You are in denial. What is your part in this? Why do you accept this abuse and subject your child to danger? Your poor grandmother! Why is this her old sole's problem??
Go to the women's shelter, get help, stop the drugs, get an education, stay away from the disfunctional and dangerous jerk (that is your real addiction) and give your poor grandmama some love and help. |

This is not the place to look for advice for such a serious problem. I can't tell if you're from the UK or not but which ever country you live, there should be lots of information online, provided by your local council. So go to their website and find it out. Or just call a citizens advisory centre and get their advice. |

well, don't hand in your notice if you haven't already. Ask your grandmother if you can move in with her, or any other family you trust. Other than that, no they can't force you to be homeless. But you should respect your neighbors. Try not to get the government involved it is not going to make things easier. You may be able to get assistance like food stamps, etc., if you need it. But the best idea is to create a positive environment for yourself and your child. If the sound issue has been fixed, you should be fine. Don't worry. |
