Call me crazy but I want to find a Nice looking house in good condition that is around 70,000.00?
I Live in Houston TX. I want a house in Spring Branch community.

You may be able to find a small house that is decent (I don't know what houses go for in your area), but I suspect you may be in for a rude awakening. Whatever you do, make sure you have a buyer's agent (they have your first interest rather than a seller's agent who is just wanting to make a sale for their client). Also, find your own home inspector (not one recommended by Realtor), preferably one who will guarantee his report for a specified time period.

WhoMe?
I live in Houston also. For that area, I would be very surprised in you were able to find a "nice looking" house for that price. Maybe one that needed a LOT of work. I don't think you can find any houses that are decent for less than $100,000. If you are dead set on finding a house at that price, you need to be prepared to spend extra money on it fixing it up, which would probably bring you back in the $100,000+ range.

Not gonna happen. This is 2007, you know.

Are you using a Realtor? Why not? It doesn't cost you a dime to use a Realtor to purchase a home. You get all their experience and knowledge of the market for FREE! Not too many of these "yahoo's" even know what real estate is. I'd visit some open houses, talk with friends, family and coworkers about recommendations for Realtors. Find one you feel comfortable with and ask them to help you find a home in the area you want to live in. "Nice looking" that could mean a lot of things, be more specific. Good Luck!

That is going to put you in rural America, A great place to be, if you can do your work from home.

I would check our places in Montana, Idaho, Vermont, New Hampshire, Alabama, Minnesota.

Alternatively, if you need to be in or near a bigger city, you are probably looking at a modular or factory built home. Those are not bad but they don't appreciate in value like other property.

Town home or a Condo MAYBE.

My parents live in Spring and they have $190k home and it's the cheap house on the block.

Check these sites though, you might find something:
zillow.com
houston.craiglist.com
hcad.org

I just hit Zillow for you and I found a few in the 130-140k range.

Go on Realtor.com and see what's available. Keep looking until you find just what you want. Then call the listing agent on the website and make an offer.

How about a crummy looking home where the inside is in pretty good condition?

I'm serious. I don't know that community but if the homes are selling at about $100,000 there you may find what you are looking for if you are willing to do some work on it. If the community home prices are more than that I would not spend much time looking there any more. Probably your best bet is in a very rural area over 50 miles from a city.

Curious about discount real estate brokers and agents?
