Can I make it with a room mate?
Ok so I want to move out when I turn 19 and when I go on to this school I'm transferring to. The apartments around there are probably around $300 - $400 and I want to know if I can make it with a room mate splitting that. Probably 3 ways cause my boyfriend may move in and that doesn't count utilities I don't think, (not sure). I don't need an exact answer I just want to know if it's possible to do this working around 30 hours a week at $7/hr. I may find a second job when I go to school anyway I don't know. But could it be possible maybe? I don't want to move out unless I know I can make it.

Living with a boyfriend and having a roommate rarely works. I doubt you'll find a rental for $400 let alone $300 and working 40 hours a week at $7 an hour you'll be struggling. How are you paying for school? Just being realistic

You could probably make it IF you budgeted really well ....

However; before you even consider bringing in a boyfriend ; you best talk with the other roommate .
I had a roommate move a G/F in and i promptly evicted BOTH of them !!

Where are you living?

I haven't seen an apartment for $300-$400 in forever. Especially one that can fit a total of 3 people in it.

And $7 / hour that's less than minimum wage in most states right now.

I'd check your financial figures again.

Good luck, just remember God blesses the child whose got her own, and if you can make it on your own youll have a lot less hassles.

I'd like to answer your question with a question. What is your big hurry to move out? I assume you are living with your parents, who probably don't ask you for rent, but probably expect you to follow the house rules. Right??!! Living on your own is no picnic. Yeah it has its good side-NO RULES! But, being a responsible adult and having to pay bills isn't all it is cracked up to be, especially with the rising cost of EVERYTHING!!! I suggest you think long and hard about it before you do it. You might find it isn't so bad living at home.

Most people start out with a roommate for a few years, and during school. But having boyfriend move in is a very different thing, not always cool with the roommates.

Always give yourself a cushion for those just in case moments. You cant always count on other people (as I know from previous experience with roommates) Just be careful with who you move in with.

First you better check to see if your roommate is willing to have your boyfriend move in too. I had a roommate move his girlfriend in without telling me, and it really pissed me off.

If i can give you advice, Dont move in w/ your bf. I did that at 18 and it lasted a couple years, but we missed out on a lot of things, and it will come to a point where your bored with eachother and you wont be ready to get married and feel like your stuck... were still together but dont live together any more and things have been much better.
