I moved in in mid-may for an agreed price of 699.00 monthly and I was okay with that at the time. Someone moved in below me recently, exact same apartment, everything all the same. Only way you might be able to do this is if you agreed to sign onto an additional year then they may consider changing it but to keep you there longer but why when they have you locked into a contract would they change it to benefit you and lose money for them. Apartments are kind of like airlines where one person pays $50 for a ticket and another pays $800.
I just took a real estate class and learned a little abou this. As home values fluctuate so do rents. If your apartment is trying to offer specials to get people to renew leases it's generally because they want to lock them in because most likely prices when their lease comes up will be lowe and they want to lock you in at a higher price by offering you a special |

NO. Each individual unit is different and your lease has absolutely nothing to do with theirs. Given the poor economic climate, they probably moved in on a special. Specials are ONLY for new tenants, because they are designed to attract new people.
The long and the short of it is that their rent amount is none of your business and you are not entitled to a discount.
It may not seem fair, but rent for every unit in a complex does NOT have to be the same. weather they are similar floor plans or not. |

You could ask. But they have every right to charge different rents. Maybe there is a special going on, or maybe the guy is just a better negotiator than you. Come up with some points in your favor that would add to your case for lower rent. But in the end you are obligated to the lease that you signed and they have no obligation to change the rental terms. |
