Can a 19 yr old apply for a mortgage?who should I apply to?

Yes, I applied for my 1st mortgage at 17 ! I applied for a construction loan, but it could have been a mortgage -- it became a mortgage when I finished building. I moved in 3 weeks before my 18th birthday. It was a SAVINGS & LOAN, but I don't think they have tose anymore. I'd try a mortgage company, btu use one that's well established -- you can even ask you banker for advise!
You should have some collateral (like land or a paid-for vehicle) and goooooood credit !!! You might need a co-signer w/o collateral, but that ok too. Try for an 80/10/10 mortgage so you won't have to come up with a huge down pymt and so you won't have to pay mortgage insurance (unless you hAVE THE 20% TO PUT DOWN -- IF SO THAT'S COOL). jUST DON'T USE ANY FLY-BY-NIGHT MORTGAGE COMPANY.
If this helps, PLEASE vote mine BEST ANSWER. Thank you !!!

P.S. : Don't stop at 1 house, keep on lookin' & buyin' -- rent them out as you buy them. Buy 35 or so you'll be a MILLIONAIRE++++

Yes, but your chances of getting a motgage at your age is very limited. Try any commercial bank.

JuJitsu_Fan
There is no age limit to anyone over 18 applying for a mortgage. you may want to go through a mortgage broker for this first one. good luck.

You can get a mortgage but they will check how secure your income is. How long you have been employed and what size deposit you have. Check out all the best mortgage deals but most importantly what the interest rate will be after the honeymoon period. All mortgages have these that can last 2-5 years. Speak to an IFA and not one connected to any bank/building society.

Yes, the age isnt a bad factor they will be more interested in how much diposit you have and how much your earnings are, you realy need to have been earning a good wage for at least six months or have you yearly tax certificate.
Best to see a mortgage advisor, one through and estate agents would be good or and independant financial mortgage advisor (chech yellow pages).
You can get a self certification martgage if you are put a high enough percent of you purchase up front, say at least 15% of the house price... Check it out ask the advisor to explain as much as they can to you, see several if you can, the more people you talk to and ask questions off the more clued up you'll be.

yes a 19 year old can recieve a mortgage. you are going to be rated on the same criteria that everyone else is, credit score, income verification, and so one. check your state laws however because you can not sell property in my state untill you are 21.

Yes as long as you're over 18 you can apply for a mortgage. However, remeber that the amount you can apply for is usually only 3 to 4 times the amount you earn in year. Northern Rock do some great mortgage deals for first time buyers.

Sarah (28/UK)
anyone over 18 can apply for a mortgage in the UK. I got one at 21 with no problems. Try a free mortgage advisor. I know Connells the estate agent has one as that's who I used! They tell you whcih type of mortgage would be suitable for you etc. It was a really good service. As long as you have 3 months worth of wage slips, you won't have a problem (unless you've managed to get a bad credit rating already!)

Don't wait until you're 21, if you can get on the property ladder now, do it before it become impossible!!

Good luck!

Yes, but you need to have 2 years of verified employment and some what of good credit. Call a local "mortgage broker". Brokers have more programs available to the public. Dont go to big banks, they will laugh at you. Brokers will make it work.

it will be slim b/c you can't have much of a job history as a legal adult (18+). Also, how good vredit have yu amassed?
Many Mtg writers are getting away from co-signers.
You may get a loan but he reat won't be that great.
I'd wait til you you were 21
Good luck

You can but the lenders who will supply a mortgage will be limited. You can own property from the age of 18 but many lenders stipulate that at least one applicant (if buying with someone else) must be 21.

golden1
yes.
apply to a mortgage co. for pre-approval

I guess it depends on your financial status/employment. Best to seek the advice of an independent financial advisor, who'll be able to guide you through.
