Maybe instead of spending your money on vacations, you should spend it on your obligations.
I love the part that you are a victim and the big bad landlord is so mean . . . It's not the landlords fault you entered into an agreement, promised to pay the rent and now you can't.
She has given you a chance to break the lease. FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO RENT THE PLACE. |

Have you read through the contract to see if there's any info on this?
Unfortunately, I think your landlord is right, you either have to find someone to continue your lease, or you will have to continue paying the rent as you agreed to the conditions on a legally binding contract, if breached then you can be taken to court.
A months rent notice is usually required if either a)she wants to find someone else and have you move out, or b)you want to leave the contract.
What about the other people you are living with?or your parents? Can they not help you out with money for a while??
Speak to the student advice centre at university, they have to deal with this kind of problem all the time with dodgy landlord/tenant situations, and can offer you legal advice if it does come to that.
Good Luck!! |

Unfortunately I think she may be within her rights, you signed a lease and it is legally binding. |

you signed a contract.
she is kinda doing you a a favor by letting you out of your lease early.
just because you cant pay doesnt entitle you to free time in the dwelling. |

have no idea as to the real estate laws in teh U.K however in the states you'd be screwed... leases are legally binding contracts. |

Sorry hun, u signed a lease till july, she's in her full rights as far as I know.
I'm sure u can find ur tenant rights online, im not from the u.k so don't know the site but u can google it. |

No, nobody is entitled to leave early unless it is an informal arrangement with no contract. I know it sucks, but landlords have to protect their livelihood. If you could move out whenever you wanted, they would have no security. She is totally within her rights.
You have no legal rights if you don't pay the rent because you have broken the agreement. If i were you, I'd search long and hard to find someone to take your place.
I know this must be hard for you, but unfortunately you signed a legal document and as a student, your loan (if you get one) should cover your rent.
I would go to the advice centre at Uni straight away and ask about an emergency loan or grant. I had to get one when I had money problems. Those problems were my fault because I blew my student loan on clothes and partying - but nevertheless, they still helped me out and it meant that I could pay my rent. |

Not sure about the legalities of this but if you are a student see your student advisor if your at uni you can apply for something called access to learning fund which can help towards your rent its only given to those in desperate need who may drop out due to their situation and you dont have to pay it back. Talk to your advisor about your landlord they will be able to offer you support and advice. |

If its in the contract you signed then she is well within her rights
I moved out of my student accom last year as I moved unis and I was told I had to find someone to take over my room otherwise I would have to keep paying the rent...
Eventually he found someone to have the room and said as he found someone he was going to keep my deposit whereas if I found someone I would have got it back...grrr..(which he never told me before) he then said although this time I will give you your deposit back...Thanks!
Check through your contract again - as long as you read it before you signed it you should know all the clauses.
If theres nothing in the contract stating it then you can take it back up with her...
If you drop out of the contract then the landladys going to be one rooms rent down...if shes understanding she wont force you to move out until you actually cant pay anymore |
