Have you spoke to your local council to see if you can get rent rebate.
Speak to the citizens advice bureau for advice as well.

Sounds like a SCAM.

there is a system of Social Welfare in the U.K.

You broke your arm. Must have been a pretty bad break.
You should be receiving sick pay or other benefit (e.g. housing) if you are genuinely unable to work.
In other words, there is no reason why you should not have been able to pay what you owe. Sorry.

Miles, why on earth did you let the rent build up so much? You must contact the citizens advice bureau (CAB) and ask for advice. If someone did pay this rent for you, how long would it be before you were in arrears again? You must sort your life out and don't expect to be bailed out by other people. You should be receiving some form of disability payment or income support at the very least, offer to pay back a small amount every month, this may stop you being evicted.

A broken arm is usually in plaster for 6 weeks. During these weeks off work, your rent will be paid for you, albeit a little in areas.

I have a costly teenage daughter. I don't work because of an injury, and don't claim any social. So when the money comes rolling in (lol) think of me.

You'd have more joy begging on the streets than asking for money in here. Do you really think someone is going to give a stranger £700. Come on, surely you can come up with something more creative than that!
