Can anyone tell me the benefits of having 100% equity in your home??
Like what are your options, especially if the value has gone up?? Are the benefits really good? What does it mean when you are ready to sell?

100% equity? hmm..means you owe less than it's worth, I suppose. if it's paid off, all the money you get is profit.

building up equity means if you paid 50K and made the payments for 5 years, the house may be worth 60K, so you've "built up" 10k in equity. what it is worth against what you owe= what you can borrow against it.

Jim
1. You don't have a mortgage payment
2. You can get a loan against the equity

bad points:
1. You can't get tax breaks on the mortgage interest

Having 100% equity in your home means it's free of debts, leans, or financing, it's paid off.

the difference between the market value of a property and the claims held against it

NO MONTHLY NOTE, NO MORE MORTGAGE !!!!!!!!

Well ... you can feel good about yourself! And, you can take out a Home Equity Loan. And, there' s no mortgage to pay off, when you sell it. Beyond that ... it's not all that exciting, LOL!

I don't think you understand what equity is.

%100 equity means you own the home. Therefore when you sell the home you get all the profit. If the value has gone up since you bought the house, then of course that is gained equity.

Owning your home means no mortgage payments. In turn you have much more money left from your income that can be placed in savings, or used for a holiday etc. Plus you are not throwing money away on interest that a bank charges for the mortgage.

It means you own it entirely and the proceeds of any sale are your's alone.

Angel eyes, in my world, if you own your home outright, you have gotten bad financial and tax planning advice. But that's just me.
