Can foreclosures happen in the winter months?
I heard that when you rent an apartment the landlord can't kick you out during the months of October all the way to April.
Is this how it is with houses that are in foreclosure as well?

That is an urban myth.

One can be removed via foreclosure or eviction anytime during the year.

Don't believe everything you hear.

If you don't pay rent, your landlord can evict you. If you don't pay your mortgage, your bank can foreclose on your house. The time of year has nothing to do with it.

chatsplas
WRONG.
Pay up.
You don't pay rent or mortgage, you can be kicked out, winter, summer, snowstorm.
TALK to lender and see what can be worked out. There are options, so find what they are. HUD Hope for Homes, HUD accredited credit agencies, etc.

they can but many lenders are forgoing foreclosures till spring and that was on the news the other day but not all lenders will comply

Yes, forclosures can and do happen all the time, no matter what. The time of year has nothing to do with being forclosed, if you are behind on your rent or mortage payments the best thing you can do is contact the landlord or mortage company and work out a payment arrangement, most are willing to work payments out but be a person true to your word and do as you say otherwise move, so the owner or bank can rent to a paying person.Landlords have expenses too and do NOT want or need a non paying tenant. I know this sounds harsh and is NOT meant to be that is just the way the system works. If you cannot afford your rent or mortage look into low income housing. Best Wishes!

schwildcat1977
There is no such law. Be it foreclosure or a standard eviction they can do it any time of the year.

This is a popular myth that is not true. You can either pay the redemption amount or get ready to move.
