Can i be evicted for fighting with my landlord?

The landlord can only evict you if you are in violation of the lease. Most leases don't have any clauses related to fighting, but most do have clauses about civil behaviour while living in the apartment/house. If you got in a fight, but you are a model resident otherwise, you probably can't be evicted.

If you don't have a writen lease, the landlord can terminate your living arrangements with a 30 day notice in most states.

As is the case in most business situations, if the landlord wants you to leave, most likely, there is some aspect of the lease agreement that you may or may not be following to the letter. If the landlord decides to go to court to get you out, it will be difficult for you to stay unless you are a perfect resident. If the fight wasn't too serious, I'd recommend that you bake the landlord a cake, buy a six-pack, or offer some sort of peace offering to make the situation go away. Either that, or start looking for another place to live. You don't want to be feuding with the person who owns the house that you live in. Good luck!

it woudl depdn on the severity of the fight. was it physical did it involve any threats?> was it over nonpayment. if u have not payed rent than that is ground for eviction. if u have no lease that is grounds for eviction.

Was the fight a verbal disagreement, or verbal threats, or physical combat? You're allowed to disagree with your landlord, of course, but you have to keep the disagreement civil and polite, and be able to back up your assertions with your legal rights as a tenant.

It all depends on the severity of the fight. What were you fighting about?

sortaclarksville
Depends on what the fight is over, I would guess. If it's for you not paying rent, then yes. If it's for you not taking care of the property, then yes. If it's because you two just don't like each other, then no. But, if he doesn't like you, chances are he can find another reason to evict you, so I wouldn't push it.

If the argument was of a violent nature and your landlord now fears for his life he/she can evict you, but this would have to be through the courts if there is a lease involved. If it is a month to month lease he/she is required to give you 30 days.

It depends. If it's a situation where you rent a room in a house, you can be evicted for not getting along with others. If you don't live with your landlord, it depends on what you are doing. If you can be seen as a liability then yes. If you just don't like each other, then no. It's hard to explain without more detail. If you beat him up or something, you could be a liability.

godged
Absolutely. Find a new place.
