Can we move whenever we want to?
We have asked this apt to renew our lease about 5-10 times over the past year and a half. They haven't done so b/c of lack of organization and management changes. We didn't have time to keep chasing down the lease, so we just kept paying the same rent every month.

My question is, whenever we buy a house, can we just leave since we technically are not under a lease now? Or must we give notice?

To avoid any charges appearing on your credit be safe give them a 30 day notice, clean up let them inspect for damages so they wont charge u, and you wont have any thing to worry about because you have covered yourself. Remeber to keep a copy of you r 30 day notice and you can also have them sign a copy for you, one of the leasing managers. But if credit is not really a concern then screw 'em and just move, but you sound like you are concern so just take the extra pre cautions.

most states have an assumption of month-to-month....Just be sure to give 30 days notice when you are ready....you can leave anytime, but you'd just have to pay the full month's rent. No biggie, but if they are that disorganized that they doesn't secure a tenant, I'd worry about getting your deposit back.

you must give 30 days notice of your intent to move or they may not give you any of your deposit money back

without a lease you are considered month to month and you can leave with one months notice, the manager can ask you to leave with the same one month request.

Once your lease is over you can move anytime you want. But if you paid a deposit make sure you get your deposit back.

To cover yourself, you should give 30-days notice

If your lease is expired and has no automatic renewal prevision, then neither you nor your landlord has any legal claim to your residential status.

Even if you don't have a lease and are on a "month to month" it is still binding by law to give two weeks notice.
