Don't listen to your mom. The law is 18 years old. She get in big trouble if authorities find out that you are living alone in an apartment.

tkquestion
No.... Until you are 18, you can not sign any legal document, such as apartment lease. Therefore, you cannot get your own apartment. The only exception is, if your parents can sign for you, but the problem then is, if you are living by yourself, your parents can be charged with child neglect.

ibu guru
You cannot sign any legal document, including a lease, until you are at least 18. Any landlord wants proof of income, and you are too young to work. You have no job, credit, references, or sufficient cash to pay deposits, etc. You cannot get utilities either (have to be over 18 and employed to open utility account). No way you can get an apt. for at least 3 years.

You can not sign a contract until you are 18.

♥ just me..

No you cant get an apartment at the age of 15, you have to be of legal age, a minor cant enter into a contract, so no there isnt anyway, no hardship no special law that Im aware of. why would you want or need an apartment at 15? you're not even old enough to have a driver licenses!!!

Yes, you can go to court and ask to become an emancipated minor, cut ties from your parents but it still wont make you of legal age which is 18 and you still wont be able to enter into a legal binding contract and no landlord in their right mind would lease to a minor, you decide to run back to mommy or daddy or somewhere else but the apartment you wanted to lease they're out the money and no ones going to be responsible for it, no one. so answers still no. sorry

rar1307
You may also try calling up the YMCA. They have places for teens under 18 to stay. It's a shelter, but decent enough.

estielmo
You must go to court, become an emancipated minor and then find a willing landlord. But it won't be me.

luvmykids
Yes it's possible but it depends on your state laws. If you are or become emancipated its basically like becoming an legal adult at a young age. While it may be hard to find a decent place to rent it is possible, some places may just require a co signer. No offense to you but I wonder why are you asking this question? Send me a message if you want more info.
