Can I get kicked out my apartment if, while the managers are showing an apartment, I tell the "new tenants"---"Did they tell you about all the cars getting broken into, and how they don't fix things that you ask them to fix"?
Would that be grounds of getting kicked out? Isn't it a freedom of speech, me saying this?

You might. I got evicted for telling the truth during a so called private survey by the main office. They let the manager know what people said and she went after us, making up stuff to get us evicted.
The place is full of drug dealers and hookers but she is still the manager, and this was a nice town too. |

First off, you should probably let the police tell the potential new tenants that there are crime problems there.
As for the landlords not fixing anything in your apartment, it depends on what they're not fixing. If it's stuff that you should be fixing on your own, then the new tenants will just look at you and shake their heads. Probably good for them, so they don't have to waste time on befriending you, as you're a pain in the rear.
If you're telling them that the landlords are not fixing items that are a health hazard, then you're doing them a favor, but you probably won't get anything fixed in your apartment anymore.
Best bet, mind your own business and work on moving out, since you don't like it there anyway. |

Sure, you have freedom of speech, and the management has full freedom to NOT renew your lease when it expires. If you want to find yourself looking for a different apartment, just keep doing what you're doing. |

Best rule is if you're not asked, keep your opinions to yourself. It could also be argued that the landlord has "freedom of speech" to tell others what a lousy tenant you are. |

It probably wouldn't go down too well. You could also add extra information about how the couple that lived there before you killed each other and you keep seeing them in the living room. That is sure to do it. |

No, you can't be evicted for that. However, don't expect them to renew your lease either. |

If you werent going to do it, then why would you post such a stupid question and not expect a bunch of rude answers? And obviously you WERE thinking about it.
I will tell you one thing. If you did that in front of my prospective tenants, I would file a legal complaint against you and sue for for money damages for preventing me from renting my apt out. And if you werent the one moving out, you soon would be. You cannot in any way stop the landlord from renting out his apartment. And that legal filing would also prevent you from being present when I show the apartment. Or the legal filing would be an eviction notice.
While you have the right to say what you want, there are also rules on why you are saying it. To say what you wanted to say is to prevent someone else from their legal right to rent an apt out. You are preventing them income from their job. |
