ask the head of the housing association

Spirit*Girl
All housing associations have different rules, i live in one, but it can only be handed down to either my son or daughter if either still live here when i die.
You would need to check with your mums housing association.

?
I think there is a way that you can but it would depend on the h a and there rules the best bet is for your mum to get in contact with them and ask they might do it just as it is a lot easier then having to find a new tennant

if you can claim that you have been living there for a number of years then you can take it over. Ask them to add your name to the lease and then in a few years you can take her name off

If your name was not on the application for a "rental" house and she is leaving...NO! If it is a habitate-type house that she OWNS, then probably so........Need to talk to housing authority or an attorney. I believe when it is sec 8 or renting, whomever is next on the waiting list will get the house. You need to put your name on the list RIGHT NOW, then you will have a legitimate argument.

I live in a housing association house & as far as I know, your mother can transfer the contract to your name. I asked this a while ago, they disuaded me from putting my 18year old son on the contract in case he wanted to make me homeless in the future!!!! So go for it but never forget to let them know, Good luck

You cannot 'pass it down' unless death has taken place. Speak with the association, they will give you their local options (if any). Good luck to you!

you will have to be put on her rent book and prove that you have lived there for so long and even then they are really strict about it.You would think that they would just let you have the house because they are going to have to give it to someone
