Can you pay rent to your landlord in advance, so you don't have to worry for a few months?
Say your rent is $700 a month, can you give them like 3 months rent so you don't have to worry about paying for 3 months?

You have to work that out with your landlord. They might accept that, but make sure you get receipts that clearly show how much you paid paid and which months those payments cover.

Considering all the headaches you could have by doing this, I would save the money yourself and just make the payments each month. I would open a 2nd checking account and transfer rent money to it. Put 3 months worth of rent into the account. Then write rent checks for the next 3 months, dated according to the days that the rent is due. You could even put the checks into envelopes and get them ready to mail or submit. Then all you have to do when the rent is due is drop the check off at the office (or drop it in the mail). I think that managing this yourself would be easier than dealing with a forgetful landlord who may not properly document your prepayments.

I do it. Gives me peace of mind. Like having no car payment month to month.

Yes, and we love it. I had a renter who worked in the movie industry and sometimes went for a few months without work, so he paid me in advance when he was working so that he didn't miss paying his rent when he wasn't. Worked well for us both.

You should be able to. Just ask them. If they won't do it, put the money in your savings account and don't touch it until you need to pay that month's rent. If you don't have a savings acccount, just open one up. It doesn't cost anything.

If you have a lease what does it say about advance rent? If not, just ask your landlord and make sure you get a receipt that clearly states that it is for 3 months rent. You need to have a written record.

sure why not?

There is no law against it, but the landlord does NOT have to allow it. It is purely up to them. This can be a huge pain in the butt if the landlord does not have an adequate accounting system. Heck, its a pain even with one!

All you can do is ask your landlord.

Yes you can however I wouldn't because if you do it might make your landlord think you have plenty of money and they might raise your rent.
