Mr. UFO
Can you take anything if your house is foreclosure?
if you have to be out of your house a certain date cause your house is foreclosure, can you take anything? like fridge, washer dryer..

Spock (rhp)
check state law ... google will find it

in some states, you may take everything that isn't attached [fixtures are attached -- like the furnace and water heater].

in other states, you may NOT take anything that was included in your original purchase -- which might include the 'fridge, washer, dryer, stove, or might not. [and then there's the issue of an allowance you got from the prior seller to go and buy a new 'fridge -- if the funds were in the settlement report, it probably was "included" in those states that follow this method.]

you can take anything you want. the foreclosure is on the house, not your personal possessions. the only time they take personal possessions is when it is an IRS lien or auction

They own the house. Not the fridge, washer.... you own that as personal property. I have seen people take things down to the light bulbs. Good luck.

yep

i've seen tons and tons of houses where the home owners take everything that they can

the fridge, washer, dryer, everything they can grab

You take your personal property. Whatever goes with the house stays with the house.

Anything considered personal property and not attached to the house you can take, i.e. washer, dryer, fridge, etc.. What you cannot take is the hot water tank, HVAC system, things considered attached to the house.

Although I have seen people take the hot water tank, kitchen cabinets, bathroom fixtures, all sorts of things.

Of course you can take everything not unless it is in writing that all of the contents of your house are included in the mortgage. But most often than not, only the lot and improvement (structure erected therein) is covered by the real estate mortgage.

Grab some ornaments from the living room, at least.

Nice job Jeffrow! Why not go back to the third grade and get some simple math while your at it. Oh wait, my bad. I'm sure it's not your fault at all that you got into a house you couldn't afford.
