definetely las vegas...there are tons of construction jobs here with the opening of many resorts. the next five years about 5 casino/hotel/condo type buildings are opening. there are also a lot of construction with housing. there are many cheap homes here too. you can get a nice house at a decent location for under 200000k. there are also a lot of foreclosures her. las vegas is a huge city too. look it up, im telling the truth. |

Erie, PA has some fairly inexpensive rentals and nice home can be bought for far less than other parts of the country but construction jobs are seasonal. Erie is about 200,000 people |

Check out Manhattan & Junction City, Kansas. The Army is moving the 1st Infantry Division back To Fort Riley from Germany. Thats several thousand GI's and their families that will be looking for homes so lots of new homes are being built. Then for a place for you to live that will be cheaper -- check out the areas out in the country half an hour or so from the Fort. |

I don't know what your price range is for a house but Florida has a pretty good market for cheap houses right now. Gainesville, Palm Coast, etc. I know that Seagate Homes has lots for sale as low as $29,000 in Palm Coast and their homes run in the low 100k to 180k in addition to the lot. You might also check out maronda.com. Their prices include the lot and are typically fairly cheap but well built houses. |

What's cheap? I live and work in Iowa. Great quality of life several "okay sized cities". Low cost of living as compared to other area, plenty of construction work opportunity. Median price range of homes $130,000-$210,000 (in larger cities in Iowa). Can find quality homes in $100,000 range in some cities, most of the time some work will need to be done, but with a construction background shouldn't be hard for a "do-it-yourselfver".
Check with a larger real estate company in the area and ask them if they have a relocation department if so let them do some research for you (most likely it will be free:) |
